THE RIME OF THE ANCYENT MARINERE-4
But O! more horrible than that
And no where did abide:
The look with which they lookd on me,
And yet I could not die.
For the sky and the sea, and the sea and the sky
I lookd upon the eldritch deck,
Sure my kind saint took pity on me,
"And thou art long and lank and brown
Within the shadow of the ship
I lookd to Heaven, and tryd to pray;

Had never passd away.
But or ever a prayer had gusht,
"I fear thy skinny hand;
Alone on the wide wide Sea;
And drew my eyes away;
Like morning frosts yspread;
Her beams bemockd the sultry main
I closd my lids and kept them close,
Fear not, fear not, thou wedding guest!
And when they reard, the el?sh light
My soul in agony.
Livd on--an藏书网d so did I.
And I blessd them unaware.
"I fear thee and thy glittering eye

And they all dead did lie!
Lay like a load on my weary eye,
This body dropt not down.
I watchd their rich attire:
A spring of love gusht from my heart,
The self-same moment I could pray;
And a million million slimy things
Se99lib.netven days, seven nights I saw that curse
"As is the ribbd Sea-sand.
Fell off in hoary ?akes.
"I fear thee, ancyent Marinere!
They movd in tracks of shining white;
A spirit from on high:
And a star or two beside--
I lookd upon the rotting Sea,
And from my neck so free
Softly she was going up
I watchd the water-snakes:
Was a ?ash of golden ?re.
Alone, al九九藏书网one, all all alone
An orphans curse would drag to Hell
Till the balls like pulses beat;
And I blessd them unaware!
Their beauty might declare:
Blue, glossy green, and velvet black
And the dead were at my feet.
The cold sweat melted from their limbs,
The many men so beautiful,
And there the dead men lay.
The moving Moon went up the sky
The Albatross fell off, and sank
