The Three Beggars
A beggar said, "They get the most
Its certain there are trout somewhere
And when the sccond twilight brought
They mauled and bit through all that day
And there to three old beggars said,
but I do not seem to care.
The second: "I have thought again:
"If that be true as it seems true,
The frenzy of the beggars moon
"You that have wandered far and wide
And thereon, merry as a bird
The pa藏书网lace-yard and river-side
Muttered the old crane of Gort.
Sleep before the third noon sounds."
And till another night had gone,
And what could make their muscles taut
With his old thoughts, King Guaire went
And when old Guaire came and stood
Am I to live on lebeen-lone?
"Times up, he cried, and all the three
Whom man or devil cannot tire,
Before the three to end this tale,
And left th藏书网em to their argument.
They mauled and bit the whole night through;
A farmer has more dignity.
"And if I win, one beggar said,
`Maybe I shall be lucky yet,
They sat upon their heels to rail,,
"For all my pains on lebeen-lone?
One of you three is a rich man,
With blood-shot eyes upon him stared.
Who is first asleep, if but he can
Or if they made a moments stay
Fell down upon the dust and

snored.To keep his fellows from their sleep;
Though I am old I shall persuade
Ive stood as I were made of stone
And seen the rubbish run about,
Do men who least desire get most,
"Though to my feathers in the wet,
`Though to my feathers in the wet
Now they are silent, said the crane.
Unless desire had made them so?
That idleness had borne to pride,
They mauled and bit till the day shone;
The exorbi九九藏书tant dreams of beggary.
Can ravel out whats in my head.
For he shall have a thousand pounds
The second: "I shall learn a trade;
King Guaire walked amid his court
I have not found a thing to eat,
They were commingling lice and blood
For only rubbish comes my way.
From river-side and palace-yard
And lay it all upon a horse;
I have stood here from break of day.
"Times up, he eried, and all the three
And t九_九_藏_书_网hey were whirling in a heap.
Sang through their teeth from noon to noon;
A pretty girl to share my bed;
Among the other gentlemen,
Or get the most who most desire?
None closed his blood-shot eyes but sought
And maybe I shall take a trout
All shouted till their anger grew
The Three Beggars
The third: "Ill hurry to the course
But Guaire laughed with secret thought,
One to another sighed and cried:
